Pays/Ville

Charlon-Sur-Saone, France

Details Personnels:

When I was young, my family had a good amount of money and I got a great education. In the first 30 years that I was alive, I did many different things. I faced two challenges in this time, one I got ill while in the army and had to leave. The second issue was when my brother had almost invented the internal combustion engine I was forced to leave office in Nice because the people no longer wanted me. Finally, I invented the first picture after I joined in the partnership with Louis Daguerre because he had good ideas and some needed money. After I died my son, Isidore continued my partnership and then the French government paid them to release the technical details of the camera.

This is an educational video in French on me (No sound)                          Video on early photography in general

Situation de Famille:

My parents were rich and sent me to home school with a tutor. My brother Claude devoted his life to invention and experement, he invented the internal cumbustion engine in 1807 or the pyréolophore. Later, my brother Claude became mentaly ill in London and spent much of the family's money so much that I did not have any more money for my invention.

Inventions:

  • Vélocipède- In 1818 I made a bicycle without pedals. I thought of putting an engine on it, so now it could be called the first idea of a moped.

  • Pyreolophore- My brothers and I made the first internal combustion engine. 10 years later, we made the first fuel injection system for it.
  • Marly Machine - Again me and my brothers had an idea to build something; this time it was like a steam powered train. By the time that we were done, someone else had already made a different kind so ours was not used.

Personnage que je voudrais rencontrer et pourquoi:

I would like to meet Steven Sasson, he is the inventor of the digital camera.

I want to meet him because I think this is a great add on to my invention. Even though many people have improved it before Mr. Sasson has made the best improvement. I hope other people will improve my invention as the world changes.

Amis:

  • Louis Daguerre: He helped me make the first photograph. When I ran out of money because my brother used it all I needed to go into a partnership for more money.

Mon Influence sur la Culture Francaise

Throughout my life I had many great accomplishments and tried many different jobs and activities. Me and my brothers made many different things that helped the French people progress in there understanding and development in the world.  I had many influences on French culture; these include my invention of the camera and my ability to think up other great inventions.

The first thing that I did that affected the Culture of French people was the invention of the camera. This invention allowed people to save memories and important events in history and keep them forever. This is the first great way to save how people and structures looked. Before my invention of the camera, people would have to paint a picture of the event or person to save it this could take many hours or days to create an accurate picture. In conclusion, because of my invention of the camera made it a whole lot easier for people to keep images of history alive.

The second big impact that I had on French culture was my ability to think up and join with other people to come up with inventions that the French people needed. One example of this is when I was working on a type train. Even though my brothers and I did not come up with the exact model that the French government accepted we had a big impact on the final invention. Another example when I made an impact on the French people is when I teamed up with Louis Daguerre to make the camera. This depicted to the French that it is ok to share information with other people so that you both benefit. In conclusion, my inventions and how I interacted with other people while making my inventions gave the French people a good example to follow.

Finally my inventions affected French culture because the introduction of the camera and my ability to think up other inventions and work with other people to get a common goal completed. Today we take everything that we use for granted but I challenge you to think of all the work and discussions of what had to go on to make that product effective.
