Tony Parker #9 Guard

Pays/Ville

Then moved with family to France, and my recent move, to my new hometown San Antonio, Texas

Details Personnels:

I was born to Tony Parker Sr. and Pamela Firestone on May 17,1982 in Bruges, Belgium. Having been born in a famous family I was influenced in many ways. My father was a professinal basketball player and my mom was a model. I was not the only child in the family I had two younger brothers Pierre and Terence. My dad handed me a basketball when I was only 18 months, ever since then I grew a passion for the game of basketball. Although I had a passion for basketball, I loved the game of soccer. I had the skill set to be an amazing soccer player, I was fast and had great eye hand coordination. One might ask how then did you start playing basketball? In the year 1991 I was visiting Chicago, Illinois, this was when Micheal Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were seeking for their first NBA Championship. I was amazed at the game of Micheal Jordan, and ever since then I gave up soccer and started playing basketball. With the talent I had I knew all I have to do is transfer them from the soccer field to the basketball court. This was one of the main turnarounds I had in my life, without that trip to Chicago who knows if I ever would of been a basketball player.

My dream was to play for the NBA, in 2001 I was drafted 28th by the San Antonio Spurs. Ever since I was drafted by the Spurs I have made many accomplisments. I was born in Belgium and raised in France. Spending most of my childhood in France I became fluent in French, as well as English. Although sports are a big part of my family so was education, my younger brother Terence played and studied at Northwestern University. My other brother Pierre is at Loyola University and he is play guard on the basketball team.Throughout my life I attended school and learned just as the others in the world. At 15 I joined the Institut National du Sport et de l'Education Physique ( National Institute of Physical Education). Throughout I balanced sports as well as education. I had much intrest in sports, but still had the oppurtunity of learning. Much of my life was based around sports and when I attended any school it was due to my athletics.

Films Preferes:

Desperate Housewives

Face/Off

Musique Preferee:

The music I prefer to listen to is hip-hop and rap. As a fan of music I teamed up with the Polygrafic and created a French hip-hop album. Two of the albums were Top of the Game and "Balance-toi" or Bounce. Top of the Game features the rapper Fabulous and Booba, videos of my teammate Tim Duncan and former teamates Nazr Mohammed, Brent Barry, and Robert Horry. The second song Balance-toi featured a video of my wife Eva Longoria. These albums never really made a noise in the public. Generally I listen to rap music made by Jay-Z, 50 cent, and the Ruff Ryders.

Personnage que je voudrais rencontrer et pourquoi:

Micheal Jordan- Ideal basketball player the NBA has ever seen. Micheal Jordan was one main reason why I switched from soccer to basketball.

James Nasmith- Creater of the game I love to play now, basketball.

Red Auerbach- One of the greatest coaches to coach the game of basketball.

My family- For all the encourgment that they gave at a young age to make me who I am today.

Amis:

  • Tim Duncan
  • Theirry Herny
  • Teammates on the French national team and the San Antonio Spurs
  •

Sports:

  • In my spare time I enjoy watching soccer and cheer for one of my close friends Theirry Henry.
  • Basketball, play for the French national team and the San Antonio Spurs.

Citation Memorable:

"...when we gave him his first workout,we didn't think he was tough enough-and we sent him home. And then we set up another interview, another workout...and he was fantastic in that one." Coach, Gregg Popovich, after 2007 NBA Championship

"When there is talk about the best point guards, sometimes they don't talk about me. But that's not my main motivation, they can talk about Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, and Chris Paul. I still have the most rings." Me, Tony Parker

"He told me, 'Coach, I'll play in NBA one day, France will recognize me as a great player'. It's incredible how, at 18 yrs old, he could have such confidence. I thought he could play in the NBA, but not that he would become a player of the importance he is today". My junior team coach, Claude Bergeaud

Mon Influence sur la Culture Francaise

You may know me as a star basketball player, crossing defenders over, swishing shots, and dishing out assists, but do u know the many scores I made of the court to the many people around the world. When you represent your country, you represent it with pride and honor. This is similar to when I get on the court and represent my team. As I place that jersey on myself, I tell myself, "Go out there and bring back pride and honor to the team". I now live in the United States away from my home country of France. Being away from France does not mean that I cannot represent my culture or country it is even more hard being in the middle of many different cultures to make your culture stand out. On and off the court I help my team and community. I have influenced the french culture in several different ways.

One way I have impacted the french culture are by making new foundations for underprivileged kids. For example in the U.S. there is foundation, known as the Make-A-Wish foundation. I was the first amabassador for the Make-A-Wish foundation for France. This is a foundation that makes a wish come true for the child with a life threating illness or medical conditon. I heard of this foundation from all around the world and I thought it would be a good idea to be the first person to start the foundation in France. I did this as a honor to represent my country and grant wishes for kids who are in need.

Another way I have contributed to the culture is as a sports ambassdor for France I like bringing good name for the French nation. As you may all know the next Olympics is being held in London, England. In the decsion making I fought for France to be the host of the 2012 Olympics. Although we fell short of the goal we fought for the Olympics to be held in France. Being a sport star it is a big event if your home country is host the Olympics. Maybe in years to come the country of France will be able to host the Olympics. If this happens I would be happy that I was one of the first people to contribute to getting these games played in France.

As I might not be the sports star back in France I will impact the culture as much as I can because France is my home country. Zindene Zidane is the star back in France for being on the championship team in the World Cup. One day I hope the people back in France can recognize what I have done by accomplishing so many feats and winning championships and bringing pride for the country of France.

Great job! Has a lot of noticable effort. The paragraph on culture is very informative. The YouTube videos could be on the page itself.

Your page has a lot to it and I like that. I enjoy how you added multiple quotations, you clearly did your work. I also like how you have videos of him and how you added his player profile. You clearly know a lot about your topic and it comes through in your wiki page.

Great job. I like how much effort you put on this. It shows how you put in all that effort writing those huge paragraphs. Thank you and have a nice day.

You were able to illustrate Tony Parker's impact on french culutre well. Your organization was good too and all the paragraphs were well-written! The En Cherchant part, however, did not make sense. But overall your blog was very good, great job!

Nice job on organization, I can see you put effort into this, however, there could have been a picture or two more. The culture influence paragraphs were well written and organized.

Good job, I don't get though why you would put zidanne in your final paragraph. Cause you have to relate your person to french culture and not somebodyelse. But overall a lot of good information.
